Hollingshead's isn't really a bar and or a restaurant -- it's not even a liquor store -- yet this tiny mom-and-pop shop possesses slight elements of each kind of establishment. In short, Hollingshead's is a rare hybrid: a specialty beer boutique accompanied by a small bar with a capacity for about eight brew enthusiasts. The place isn't incredibly well-known in OC, but it is still always packed with beer connoisseurs sampling micro and craft brews from the 15 taps and the hundreds of other specialty beers from all over the world, which are stored away in the shop's walk-in refrigerators. If you've ever heard of a rare beer or limited edition ale, this place has it. Don't stop by if you have a tight schedule though, as service at Hollingshead's is notoriously slow. Because it's a family-run operation, the owners like to talk shop with the regulars, which usually slows the process down to a snail's crawl.

Great beer and sharp wit!
KILU KLEIN - 06/06/2008Kenny and Dad provide a sharp wit to go along with their awesome selection of draft and bottled beer. From Pliny the Elder to Spaten Bock, they cover California to Germany and more all the time. They switch kegs frequently and you need to show up 2-3 times a week to try them all. This is a must stop for hard to find brews and make sure you bring along a Packer souvenir to leave for them. Great deviled eggs too! :)

They fly in dawgs from Wisconsin and host some of the best beers in the OC area. Get your own personalized mug and store there for your next vist.

mohsandy - 01/30/2006Saturday is the day to hit Hollingshead. Specialty hot dogs and specialty brews are the name of the game. Also a great place to enjoy a little football or basketball on the tv.
