One hundred and ninety-nine bottles of beer are listed high on the wall at Hopleaf Bar. The smoky front room of Andersonville's most popular bar is consistently packed with folks from the neighborhood and beyond, determined, no doubt, on making it even halfway through the impressive list (about half of the beer hails from Belgium). Those feeling daunted by the choice of some 199 bottles and 30 drafts before them need not worry -- the staff is quite willing and able to suggest a brew to please the most seasoned of beer guzzlers or the greenest of novices. As if those weren't enough reasons to convince you to visit Hopleaf, how about a recently expanded, airy back room with an ambitious French/Belgium menu and fireplace? Sure, the prices are a bit hefty, but once you taste the smoked duck sandwich or the braised rabbit, you'll appreciate eating more than average bar food. Pair Belgian ale with one of the mouthwatering entrees, and you're down to only 198 bottles left.

Being popular ruined it
Yeah yeah... the beer selection is great. But all this popularity has ruined what was a great bar. 6 years ago when I started going there you could walk in whenever and at least grab a bar stool. Now, you are lucky if you can find some standing room. And the bartenders are total jerks are act like they are doing you a favor by getting you a beer. I would rather go next door to Konac or down the street to Simon's and get great service and a seat.

Surly barstaff. Who cares if they have 199 beers. I'd rather have a domestic and employees who know how to engage a customer.
Hopleaf
Had a light meal there on Sunday, 01/30/05. Pleasant backroom and good Franco-Belgean American sandwiches. Front area is too smoky! Checkit out!
