1600 Thames St
Baltimore, MD 21231
Turn the corner onto Thames Street slowly or you might miss Duda's. Push through the throng of sports fans amassed under the television into this neighborhood bar. The place is packed and loud with a welcoming atmosphere. Sports and boating pictures scattered on the walls and block-glass windows give a retro-homey feel.
The bartender invites you up to the free seats at his bar. Behind is a board covered with family photos, mainly of kids that you're likely to ask about later in the night. The chalkboard next to the photos runs down beers and their corresponding alcohol content. From 4.0 (Guinness) or a mid-level beverage of 6.1 (Woodchuck Cider) to a potent 8.5 (Appalachian Scotch Ale), there is a toxicity level for everyone. In total you can choose from 16 beers on tap and 150 bottles. Most nights, there are $2 beer specials.
Once you're done designating a driver, help yourself to the free pretzels and mustard on the bar along with a great selection of hot sauces. A happy din exists, with patrons mainly in their mid-30s drinking beer and eating outstanding bar food. The burgers are famous -- they're huge, on fresh-baked buns from nearby Little Italy. You'll get a rundown of all the best foods and wonder how they can cook it all in the tiny kitchen. Andy the bartender is so nice and helpful that you'll really want to be a regular. -- Lynn Romano

NUMBER ONE CRABCAKES
I have eaten at many places, and seen many reviews, but am saddened that Dudas is left out. This is the best crabcake in the world. I live in florida now, but a native Marylander....I KNOW!

I used to cook here and yes the kit.is slow but if you see how many items are on the menu and the size of the kit. you would understand why the food takes so long. Also everything in that kit. is prepared to order. If your ever want to go to a great family bar this is the place.Don't forget to ask about Doc (He is the bar's ghost) Marilyn 7/22/03
