Shorty's, a Miami tradition since 1951, has people lining up on a nightly basis for some of the city's best barbecue. Hardly fancy and nothing like its neon-lit neighbors, this BBQ shack is known for succulent ribs and chicken, smoke-flavored, slow-cooked and soaked in a delicious sauce. Everything here is a la carte, and side dishes such as coleslaw, corn on the cob, baked beans and French fries are requisite for the complete experience. When it comes to pomp and circumstance, Shorty's is no nonsense, with plastic plates, plastic cutlery and paper napkins.
