There's not even beer at this roadhouse spot, so you'll have to be satisfied with iced tea if you want to seem like a savvy diner. Still, the ribs are so good they may produce all the high you'll need. The smokehouse behind the restaurant seems to go night and day, and the slow cooking produces wonderful Q of all kinds, from brisket to links to chicken to baby backs. The heat level is calibrated as you like it, but the flavors remain smoky and pungent no matter what your level of fire tolerance. The ambience at Campbell's is just as it ought to be: minimal dcor, paper napkins, plastic glasses. Come here for lunches of pork or brisket sandwiches, for dinners of chicken and ribs. One of the pleasures of Campbell's are the extras, and they're not to be missed: corn bread to sop up the sauce, and peach cobbler to round off the meal in true Carolina style. You may feel guilty and arterially blocked after a meal here, but as they say, there's nothing like going out with a smile.

I've been to Campbell's three times to make sure I didn't
hit on a "off night". Each time we've gone away thinking,
"Nope, we were correct. The meat is tough, the sauce tart
and nasty." I will never go back. For some unknown reason,
Portland thinks this is the final word in BBQ and we can't figure
it out.Disappointment
We had heard such good tings about Campbell's that we finally had to try it. We were sorely disappointed. I will admit that we didn't eat there. We got it To Go and brought it home. But, we don't live far away. The ribs were overcooked and lacked meat. The brisket was dry. The fries were cold. We won't go back.
