The flavors of the Old South and the ambience of OCs casual sand culture come together at Beach Pit BBQ. Owned by ex-minor league ball player Tim DeCinces, The Beach Pit hits a home run for super-fresh ingredients, mouthwatering smoked meats and an enjoyable environment. DeCinces, who also owns a home building business, renovated an old Newport Mesa house to create this organic oasis with cozy touches such as a fenced-in play yard for kids, outdoor picnic-style dining and relaxing cottage loungers surrounding a round brick fire pit. A real wood-fired smoker and signature rub makes the meat menu (cheese-filled sausage, pulled pork, chicken, beef brisket and ribs) tender and juicy. And although the pit offers only one style of barbeque sauce, its just the right blend of tangy and sweet. There are also sandwiches, salads and a daily special such as pork taquitos or a chicken Cobb salad. Grand slams: Their crunchy, salty sweet potato fries and the creamy, homemade banana pudding.

Best BBQ Anywhere!
It is the best BBQ place I have ever been to. The sauce makes it so different. The pulled pork is a real winner!

I always try new BBQ joints, I guess I'm addicted to that hot smokey, juicy flavor. I tried the Beach Pit a few years ago in Costa Mesa and loved the ribs, pulled pork and even the chicken! I ended up stopping by there for familiy & friend's parties and now everyone expects me to bring it. I get invited out a lot! I have moved to Tustin and can't believe I lucked out. There is a new one on El Camino Real in the heart of old town Tustin. It is really cool inside and still has great food. I go there for lunch now as well as pick up. Life is good!
Beach Pit is great
We love Beach Pit BBQ. We've been to the one in Costa Mesa and the one in Tustin. Great ambiance, at both and the food is delicious. Especially the ribs.
