Dave Anderson, a Native American businessman and the founder of Famous Dave's, is purported to have gone on a 25-year pilgrimage scouring the little roadside barbecue shacks of the Deep South and Midwest for the ideal barbecue recipe before starting up his first shack in Minneapolis. It's an appealing tale; it may even be true. In any case, the proof is in the product, and his pit-smoked barbecued ribs have won awards across the country. He's come up with five different sauces that reflect different regional variants of the barbecue taste, and packaged all of this lore into an extensive menu full of sandwiches and combos to meet every taste and price point.
