You can usually tell if a place has good barbecue if the lingering aroma hits you before you even walk in the door. Such is the case with Hillbilly Barbecue, a bare bones establishment tucked away in the suburb of River Ridge that takes its cookin' quite seriously. The menu is simple yet delicious. Customers can order a half or whole chicken, pulled pork, beef and ribs by themselves or on a combo plate. There's the usual array of essential barbecue side items such as vegetables, taters, beans and a mean potato salad that Hillbilly spices up with a fiery kick. Hillbilly caters mainly to a delivery and carry-out crowd but there are a dozen or so tables for diners to eat-in during the lunch rush.--Craig Guillot.

IamTheStorm1 - 07/02/2008Life long resident of the area. And I remember that place being a locksmith shop. What a great replacement for that location. I have eaten there many times. And EVERY time it has been outstanding. I hope they never leave the locaton they are. Convienent for me and the neighborhood. If you want excellent BBQ...come to the Ridge....River Ridge that is. Oh...and the owner will even share some smoked bones for your dog too....Nice people.

If You Don't Eat BarBQ Here, You Are Cheating Yourself!
JFowler307 - 06/06/2008After growing up in Memphis, one becomes a BarBQ expert: BarBQ spagetti, BarBQ pizza, ribs, pulled pork etc. We have been eating at Hillbilly's since it opened. Their style of BarBQ and what they do with sauces is just wonderful. We are thankful we live a few blocks from them. Their BarBQ is superb and reasonably priced.

Cragenpuff - 05/16/2008My wife and just happened to come across Hillbilly BBQ by accident one Saturday as we were about to stop at nearby Dot's Diner for an early dinner after a long day of shopping. All I can say is WOW, Great BBQ brisket and pulled pork and probably the BEST BBQ beans I have ever eaten...... I was somewhat disappointed in the mashed potato style potato salad "very little flavor or umph to it" " plus the wife didn't particularly care for the vinegar style cole slaw but aside from that both dinners were Excellent with Large portions of brisket and pulled pork on each platter.
