Long before you can see this bright-red brick building, you can smell the barbecue pit. Don't be alarmed at the smoke pouring from the back -- just savor the aroma. Drive-thru service is available, as well as counter service with a choice of indoor or outdoor seating. An abbreviated menu makes ordering quick and easy. Choose from ribs, chicken, mac 'n' cheese and baked beans (the secret ingredient is green pepper). Long-time customers have come to expect the slice of white bread with each order -- they know it helps wipe up the sweet and tangy sauce. Save room for pie, either sweet potato or chess.

King Ribs has five locations in Indy. The 16th Street store, conveniently located between downtown and the racetrack, features lunch specials for gnawing as you watch your favorite drivers going around in circles.

There are several locations, but the quality varies from site to site. The best location is on Keystone, just south of Fall Creek, on the west side of the street.

The ribs are moist and perfect... the potato salad is worth a trip all by itself. Divine! Coleslaw pretty tasty too. Hey, add the rich baked beans and you've actually got a healthy supper... YIKES! Did I write that? Certainly a blissful dinner!

I go to the Pendleton Pike store. They use red gold tomatoes!!!!!!!! For those not in the know red gold tomatoes are grow in the midwest, mostly Indiana, and everyone knows there is nothing better than an indiana tomato.

Anyways the price is 9.48 with tax for the tips dinner with two sides. Well worth the money. The hot sauce is spicy, not like other sauces claim to be. No matter how many peppers you can eat your nose will be running.

    The flavor?

They cook these ribs over kingston charcoal and hardwoods. Think of cooking ribs at home in your charcoal grill. Then make your own sauce with real tomatoes and everything else. Bing! Dinner is done.
