When it comes to mouth-watering barbecue, there's no doubt about it: Barley's Smokehouse is on fire. Along with your basic pulled pork and chicken variations, beef brisket, spareribs and wings also on the menu. You can cure whatever "ales" you with brews handcrafted on site, or go with the softer ginger and root versions. Other culinary surprises include Mildred's Sauerkraut Balls (with chipotle dipping sauce), a full assortment of salads including the Smokehouse (piled high with meat, chicken, portobello mushrooms and/or pork), and half-pound Barley Burgers with a diversity of toppings. The atmosphere hovers between hangout and sports bar, with plank floors, casual seating and offbeat decorating touches such as a display of croquet mallets. TVs are subtly placed in corners, with certain areas devoted to darts, pool and video games. While single young guys dominate the drinking area, dining rooms are a mixture of families and couples of all ages. Catering, banquets, beer tastings and private rooms are also available.

What a disappointment!
Quite possibly one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. The server was slow and completely uninformed, reading the menu over my shoulder to determine what questions to ask, and didn't recognize the wine I ordered as being a drink; not to mention telling us how hungover he was from St. Pat's Day. The food was bland and flavorless from the salad dressing to the baked beans and jicama slaw that tasted solely of pepper and cilantro; and the ribs and chicken were so dried out and overcooked they were inedible. I hear the beer is excellent, but unfortunately, that is the one thing we didn't try.
