Leon's Bar B Que specializes in generous portions of meaty ribs, hot links (the Southern version of Bratwurst), fried perch and fried chicken smothered in their famous BBQ sauce (mild or hot). Like Harold's Chicken Shack, which is also famous for its sauce, Leon's is an institution on the South Side. A fixture since 1940, outposts can be found in almost every neighborhood where customers come early morning or late-night for their favorite dishes. For those who cannot make up their mind, order The Big Combo, a heaving platter of ribs, perch, chicken and hot links. Calling ahead with your order is highly recommended, as it's a long wait as each order is made on the spot. Also, during the late-night hours, the crowd usually gets pretty loud and sometimes a little rowdy.

Muzicboxrefugee - 06/25/2008I've been a fan of Leon's BBQ chicken for about 20 years and never a fan of those rib tips they call rib tips. This is the worst BBQ you can buy. If you like eating neck bones with sauce, then this is your spot. Personally I hate neckbones they are bad for you. As far as their slab of ribs, the pork that they use has a very badddddddddd stock yard or slaugther smell to them. If you venture across the street to Captain Curts BBQ on 82nd Cottage Grove you will get better BBQ as well as terrible customer service. These establishments have no clue about good customer service, or repeat customer satisfaction. Good luck in your BBQ hunting.
