When it's got to be authentic Eastern-style barbecue, Bubba's delivers the pig that way it's meant to be. This is whole hog, pit-cooked barbecue that's served with the classic tart vinegar-based sauce. The surroundings are just as classic. A large dining room with red checkered tablecloths downplays the atmosphere and emphasizes the food. During the week you'll find Bubba's packed with construction workers, seniors and business folks. Weekends cater to families, packing the tables that can be situated to accommodate large groups.

Come to Bubba's for the barbecue, but don't overlook the sides that make it a meal: Brunswick stew, coleslaw and hush puppies. Many sweet tea refills are required to wash it down. Sit back and enjoy your plate or order by the pound to take home and share. Catering is available as well, so you can throw the party while Bubba brings the pig.

I have tried this place on several occassions with co-workers for lunch. Not a single one of us liked the food or the service. The Q was dry, the pups were cold, the service was unenthusiastic. The owner said he didn't have nana pudding because it was hard to keep the quaulity high daily with bananas. That made me think the food would be good. Not! He could use instant banana pudding and it would beat out his other food. Nasty.

I lived down the street from there. We would drive past it to go to BBQ KING or RO's. I have had BBQ from all the great Blue Ribbon places here in NC and this place is LAST. Food prices to high, no food on plate,

About 20 of us, in Charlotte for the USBC Women's bowling Tournament, heard about Bubba's from a friend. The food was awesome. As "Yankees" who are used to a smothered BBQ, we were pleasently surprised at the traditional southern style of BBQ. Our waitress was wonderful and waiting on our rowdy crew couldn't have been easy! The atmosphere was a comfy "home kitchen style." So if you want fancy, this isn't the palce to head. But if you want great food at a great price and friendly smiles......head to BUBBA'S!!

  • The Absolute Worst @#$@ Ever!!

Went there in May 2007. The pork ribs were on the verge of spoiled with a really funky taste. Maybe the ribs were smoked all of 5 minutes. The "pulled" pork was chopped, not pulled ,and had no flavor. The prices were way too high. Take a look at how old most of the ratings are, 2002, 2003. A lot bad has happened in the past four years. I have had barbecue in NC, TX, FL, SC, TN, AL and this was by far the absolute worst. A dog wouldn't eat this crap.

I certainly will think twice before using AOL's ratings as any kind of guideline in the future.
