In Davis Square, the spicy tradition of Cajun Louisiana collides with the Southern home-cooking of Arkansas and the twangy strut of Texas--seasoned with a healthy dose of Delta blues. It's the kind of place where waitresses fling sass, authentic cornbread comes with every meal and you're likely to hear Hammie Nixon's corn-pone harp playing in the background. Pork and beef ribs, brisket, chicken and Texas-style pulled pork share the menu with well-executed sides like hush puppies and cat fingers. Save room for caramel custard. To drink, Redbones offers 24 microbrews on tap and more than a dozen big and little brands in bottles.

Not as Down-Home as I hoped
The food was all fine, service was fantastic, mainly because a member of my party was friends with the waitress. But for a Texan, who feels like they know good barbecue, this just didn't hit the spot. Personally, I love Texas Roadhouse, because they litter Texas Highways as it is and Firefly's because their sauces can't be beat. Try them all for yourself. I just wasn't impressed with Redbones (maybe it was too cajun style for my taste), especially after everyone up here said how great it was.

I wasn't impressed with Redbones eaither. Especially the ribs. I heard they were really good but when I had them, they were average at best. Ribs at Flaramo's in Chelsea are WAY better.
Beat's most of the que in the South
I grew up here in Florida and I have yet to find a Bar B Que place that come's close to Redbone's. Everytime I go to the Boston area I make several trip's to Redbone's. I cannot wait to move back to the Boston area so I can go more often. I am open to checking out other Bar B Que place's but for now. Redbone's is awesome.

We had a party of 20 men a few years ago and, based on its reputation, got all the food from Redbones. Most everyone was dissapointed. No one wanted to take home leftovers. Blue Ribbon in Newton is a lot better than Redbones.
