In Short
Reasonable prices, great food and a seemingly constant crowd make Oregano's one of the hottest pizza parlors in town. Small tables--inside or on the patio--and swingin' tunes are the centerpieces at this local hangout. Pizza comes stuffed, topped, thin-crust or pan-style with a variety of toppings. Save room for the pizzookie, a half pound of chocolate chip or white macadamia nut dough slightly baked and topped with three scoops of vanilla ice cream.

I love pizza. When I tried a thin crust pizza at Oregano's it was the worst . How can a thin crust pizza be tough? I would not give them a second chance. I did not even take home the left overs, it was that bad.

I've eaten here a few times at the Scottsdale location and I have to say this is the most overrated restaurant in town. The thin crust pizza is soooooooo dry! I will only go there now for the cookie skillet, it is great. However you can get a better one at Pizza Picazzo. The best pizza in town is Patsy Grimaldi's by far.

One of the better Chicago style thin pizza's around ! Salad's are very good.Only disappointment was the deep dish pizza which still needs some work on the crust.Bargin prices.Atmosphere is unigue but the place is small so you may have to wait to be seated but it's well worth the wait ! I have been to both the Tempe and Scottsdale locations, quality is equal but parking at the Scottsdale location is almost nonexistent so you have to hunt for spot on the street or park in the city lot two blocks away.

  • Turn around the table seating

    Review rating : 4out of 5   giczi - 01/05/2007

I ate the thin crust for the first time yesterday. Our party of 3 rated the pizza with (2) 9s and (1) 8. The cracker thin crust was something my picky husband would approve of, who never thinks a crust is thin enough. Here is a thought on the table waits. They could work harder to turn the tables quicker. Oregano's is notorious for hour long waits, even hour 10 minutes on weekends. We were there on Thursday at 1:00pm. We waited 30 minutes to have an outside patio table (the hostess told us it would be quicker than an inside table). We observed two table out of about 9 on the back patio which took 15 minutes a piece to get wiped off and have someone seated. Since I had two children asking every minute, "When are they going to seat us? When will we get a table?", it was more noticeable perhaps. I kept telling them I thought it would be worth it. Told them to try it once and decide. It was worth it, since the pizza was so good and our waitress was wonderfully friendly and helpful.

I came away with the impression that it is just is not a priority for them to turn tables. Perhaps they like the crowded look...8-10 people waiting for tables at any point in time.

We take all of our out of town guests there. We have been to a few in the valley and all the staff are very friendly and prompt. Their cookie/ice cream dessert and salads are fabulous. Pizza is great! You can't go wrong.
