Sometimes it's a concert venue; sometimes it's the location for a private party. Formerly known as the Cajun House, this entertainment chameleon puts on a new face depending on who's in the house. With space for crowds ranging from 50 to 1500, The Venue can dress itself up as a New Orleans street scene for Mardi Gras, a Wild West town, a sleepy South of the Border pueblo or a biker bar. Book the place for a party of your own and you choose the theme. Or maybe you're hosting a wedding reception, corporate training session or other traditional gathering with linens and formal table settings. Whatever the occasion, they can do it. The professional stage, lighting and sound systems crank it up for concerts and weekend parties. Three championship pool tables offer yet more distraction and VIPs can reserve a private area to accommodate 40, complete with a big-screen TV.

A separate part of the facility houses the Comedy Spot, a small club offering stand-up on most Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, as well as regularly scheduled Gay Comedy Nights.

  • No longer the Cajun House!

    Review rating : 5out of 5   Slider7467 - 07/10/2008

At first read I have to admit that I was a little upset, then I realized that all of this trash talking is about the Cajun House and not the Venue of Scottsdale. For those of you that dont know, the Venue has the least expensive drinks in all of South Scottsdale, and is the only real live music Venue in Scottsdale. They are only open for concerts and corporate functions. They are not one of your Dirty Scottsdale meat markets or bars. If there is not an event, they dont open thier door.

Anyways, great room, great staff, great prices. Need I say more?

You are all **** heads. Who gives a shit about the booze and people, it is about the music. "Cool" is a state of mind not a class of people. Just keep it real.

My companion and I agreed that the only thing worse than the horrible food and terrible drinks was having to stand on cobblestone for over 3 hours to see and listen to really good talent (Keb' Mo'). Pass for the future on this venue.

Used to be cool, but then Club Rio used to be cool too. A nice place for concerts but that is it. Rude bartenders too. The cool Scottsdale crowd no longer comes here anymore anyways. Skip this place.

This place is good for concerts, sucks as a nightclub. Don't expect good service here either bartenders are rude, they are probably used to being stiffed. Lower class of Scottsdale seem to come here. This place was cool 5+ years ago, not anymore.

Money, Money, Money. That's all this place cares about. The bouncers are bullies, the bartenders lack personality (except for the short dude with long hair and glasses...he makes some mean mixed drinks), the sounds system can often be weak...The people don't appear to be there for the music.
This is too bad, I enjoyed my first few experiences at Cajun House, but had it not been for hard-to-see acts, I would not have returned. Shadow was definately a saving grace, but Dick Dale show was a disaster. Got kicked out before Dale even came on for "fighting," which I guess constitutes getting pushing a drunk Indian girl who judo chops you to the throat. After getting kicked out, was pinned into corner by 3 bouncers who attempted to incite me into a fight (I weigh 150 pounds). I would think this was an isolated incident had I not heard similar stories from others. Plain and simple, they don't care to build a clientele, and could care less about the safety of the people that visit their venue.
Also, word to the wise... If you print your tickets off via email/internet, make sure that you bring your confirmation of purchase. Records are supposed to be on file at venue, but have had to return home for receipt the last two times I went.
    I miss the electric ballroom.

I won't go back. We went because we had heard so much about it. Drinks were very expensive and the folks working there take you for granted and are very independent giving you the impression they could care less about you! Too many other places that want the business!
