But NEXT bridges the gap by being hip, elegant and retro -- a throwback to the romantic dinner clubs of yesteryear. Modern design elements include six flat panel screens at the entrance, displaying various arts, video clips, images from the previous evening and photos of guests having a good time. Behind the dance floor, diverse images are projected onto a white silk curtain covering an entire wall, creating a myriad of moods. The food, lighting and music emphasize change. Although the menu changes periodically to maintain variety, the food is always first-rate. Offerings range from fried calamari with roasted tomato remoulade and lobster avocado rolls to a grilled flatiron steak sandwich and Asian pear salad.
