It can be hard to find "real" bagels once you leave the east coast. Founded over twenty years ago by a family of ex-New Yorkers, Chompie's has a reputation for satisfying the most discriminating bagel connoisseurs in the Valley. In fact, there are over 35 varieties of bagels and bialys available, all baked fresh throughout the day. The quality doesn't stop with breakfast. Chompies guarantees that every single item on the menu is homemade, including the wide array of beautiful deserts at the pastry counter. Culinary temptations include Skyscraper Sandwiches, towering meals prepared with three slices of bread and requiring at least two hands; the popular Chicken Chompadilla, a second-cousin to the quesadilla; burgers, seafood and various hot entrees. Limited patio seating is available, but the real action takes place indoors where a full-wall mural of New York City nostalgia overshadows tables, booths and the always-crowded takeout line. On Jewish holidays the restaurant fills with celebration and kosher meals are served; advance reservations on these days are a must.

In Hoc SS - 05/30/2008Stayed in Phoenix for a month back in '99 and found Chompie's while I was there. Excellent food and yes they have eggs.

I LIKE THE BURGER SHOP FOR FAST AND PLENTY GOOD AMERICAN BREAKFAST FOR CHEAPS. LOCATED ON S 27TH AVE AND JUST S. OF VAN BUREN. wHEN REALLY HUNGRY TRY THE CHILI FRIES FOR LUNCH.No eggs?

SWortzman - 05/29/2008We live in Albuquerque and nothing there is kosher-style deli, so Chompies in Phoenix is where we get our fix. Everything on the menu is to die for... matzo ball soup and a grilled Ruben are a definite must. The bakery is awesome, and the breakfast specials can't be beat. Chompies is our first stop when we're in Scottsdale. It's too bad for us the Borenstein family hasn't expanded to New Mexico... someday maybe!

conair9990 - 02/14/2007Great place to go for breakfast.Tasty breakfasts with large portions served with wonderful bagels.I usually get a few bagels to go,these are kind you find on the east coast and are a real treat.Fair price.Sevice generally good.I try to eat here at least once a month.
Great sandwiches and kosher meals.Definitely worth checking out.Catering is great!
