What started as a small barbecue joint in Glendale has quickly grown into a chain of large, upscale restaurants in several states. Even people who hate chain eateries are regular customers because of the top-quality barbecue served in a lively atmosphere. Don't expect picnic tables and peanut shells on the floor -- El Paso is an upscale, full-service restaurant. Rustic, pealed wooden poles, stained cement flooring and large ceramic pigs speak casual, while expensive, original western artwork gives it a classy edge. A cozy, year-round outdoor patio is hidden behind an iron fence and huge, colorful bougainvillea. Weekend patio diners receive a complimentary side order of live entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights. Just about everything is tossed into the fire or smoker at these award-winning eateries, but if it's your first visit, check out the house-special baby back ribs or slow-smoked prime rib. Specialties of the house include hand-breaded onion rings, barbecue burgers and sandwiches and a variety of fresh seafood, all served with a choice of cole slaw, steak fries, cowboy beans or potato salad. Dinners start at around $7, less for lunch.

  • Not very good at all...

Okay, when was the last time your server actually handed you refills, plates and cleared plates over someone in your party's head rather than walk four steps around the table? That's just the beginning. Beef Brisket? Not even close, super dry and tough. The sidekick salad is not even four bites of lettuce. I mean honestly, how expensive can lettuce be that they are saving money this way? This place used to be the best...I'm not sure if they changed ownership, management or what...but holy moly is it bad now. My nephew graduated from high school tonight and he wanted to go El Pase for dinner...this is the third different chance we've given this place in the last six months and we have been majorly disappointed every time. I would tell anyone thinking about going here that they should consider somewhere else.

Every one of the employees at the Glendale location were very friendly & infomative of the menu. Once we tried the Salmon Dinner & the Ribeye Steak we were sold. Even during this hot summer heat; there is still a nice restaurant to go and enjoy! Thank you El Paso for the reasonable prices, great food, great staff, & great atmosphere

  • Best in the West

    Review rating : 5out of 5   Drozadgal - 06/06/2008

Everything about El Paso in Glendale is delicious. The patio, the bar area and even where you pick up your orders. I have used them for catering parties, business functions and have never been disappointed.
The aroma of the ribs slowly cooking in the oven add to the full experience. They are famous for their ribs but try the chicken and the corn bread. Generous protions and the service has always been great.
