Sushi, sashimi and sauce add up to Hana's claim to a considerable crowd of regulars. Look for Uptowners, university students and dedicated sushi lovers dining in this cheerful, open split-level space. The menu offers other traditional Japanese fare, such as tempura, yakitori and teriyaki, but sushi is by far the order of the day. Mainstay faves center around the sushi rolls: the rainbow roll, crunchy roll. Even the waitress agreed, Hana's special roll is 'a big one' (fried salmon and shrimp, tuna, egg and avocado). Lunch specials hover at the $8 mark.
Many diners return again and again for the 'Hana' sauce, a kind of a Japanese take on the local remoulade. Taste test of the sauce before ordering; although wildly popular, this signature sauce is not for everyone. A full bar helps make the day or evening complete. -- Micheala Morrissey

Good, But Not The Best
Very good sushi and all fresh, but the ichiban (number one) sushi bar in New Orleans is over on the West Bank...Cafe Zen! The Itamae, Hiro, is the best at his craft!

Must have anything they serve with their special Hana sauce! I always say I'm going to get something different when I go, but I never do. I keep with all my favorites and you best believe they have Hana sauce on it.
The Best Sushi onthe Continent
I've eaten sushi all across America and hit up all the Japanese restuarants in the New Orleans area. Hana by far is the best! The fish is always fresh, the rolls are tastey, and the service is outstanding, which is why I keep coming back for more!

For cheap, fast Japanese food Hana is it. I don't order sushi often but I get the chicken teriyaki everytime I go. They could work on the decor a little bit.
