As the back of East Garden's take-out menu will tell you, this Oakland Avenue pan-Chinese restaurant has consistently been chosen by Milwaukee food critics as the best Chinese in town. The menu offers Hunan, Cantonese, Szechuan, Peking and Shanghai-style specialties including spicy kung pao style shrimp, beef, or chicken, and delicious moo shu pork (and they don't skimp on the hoisin sauce). One can find all of those stand-by Chinese foods favored by Americans: chop suey, chow mein, and egg foo young, but for those with a more adventurous palate, try some of the house specialties found on the menu, including the strawberry shrimp and excellent sesame chicken. Chinese beer and wine is available at the bar. -- Carrie Norbin

They don't deliver
I expect to get what I pay for. East Garden failed to deliver: hot food, pancakes with my pork, and only gave two (2!) fortune cookies with my 45 dollar order (boy were my kids happy they could share 2 dry cookies) INHO this place has lost its luster. We have ordered from them for over 15 years and the place has simply gone down hill. When I called 'Wendy' said everything is right with the business, well Wendy it ain't - the shine has come off of the -Garden.
Northshore, time to look elsewhere for Chinese...Comments(0)|Add CommentSifuchuck's Review
On the East Coast, when you want to know if a chinese restaurant is good you order their cold seseme noodles. East Garden has the best cold seseme noodles in the Midwest! I only eat at Chinese Restaurants.
