Sushiphiles score savory fish at this cosmopolitan cool Japanese eatery with a menu featuring both raw and cooked delights.
Sushi Sasa is designed to offer Denver the opportunity to enjoy Traditional and "New Style" Japanese cuisine harmoniously beneath one roof. The seasonal, healthy, beautiful and affordable tasting menu compliments the fully functioning sushi bar bridging the gap between East coast innovation and West coast charm. Bilingual chefs man the sushi bar at the rear of the zen-like space and offer up exotic fish and produce from around the world with the heart of the cuisine remaining Japanese. With a wonderful sake and wine list and a cozy downstairs lounge, Sushi Sasa is a perfect place for a business lunch or a nice dinner with friends.Visit Citysearch.com

In Short
This well-hidden austere sushi spot is filled with dimly lit pale-wooded tables requiring minimal adornment--save for fresh flowers and chopsticks. Customers settle at a table or at the sushi bar occupied by a seasoned team of banter-friendly pros. The sushi, whether its yellowtail, toro, or silken scallops, is superbly fresh, and even the hot dishes, such as the Chilean sea bass, stand up to intense scrutiny.

I have been to this restaurant several times for lunch because I work downtown. The sushi is outstanding. I have recommended it to many friends and they have all had great experiences.

My boyfriend and I attempted to eat here last weekend. We went at 7 pm on Saturday night, completely unaware that we would need a reservation. The hostess was relatively rude about it and we would have left without hard feelings, however, the people that came in behind us didn't have a reservation either (we heard them mention this as we were turned away). After we left, we watched them get seated -- they were apparantly regulars and after the "wink wink" they were seated.
My boyfriend and I eat out alot both in Denver and around the country. This move made us feel like we were in LA or New York, certainly not the friendly city of Denver.
I am sure this place has good sushi, but I will not attempt to return. There are other good sushi places in Denver and they have friendly service.
