Excellent Vietnamese soup shop!

My introduction to Pho Duy ("Pho" is pronounced like "fun" with out the "n" and "Duy" is pronounced "zwee") was with great trepidation, because the restaurant LOOKS like a hole in the wall. Located on Federal Highway, it is the last restaurant on the left (going northward on Federal) in a tiny, hard-to-get-to strip mall. Pho Duy serves what is, in Vietnam, akin to our burgers here in the States: a solid, comfortable food staple.
They spend time cooking up the broth (it takes quite a bit of time to prepare) and season it with star anise. This broth is poured over rice noodles and garnished with whatever meats you want. Examples of these meats are: thinly sliced steak, chicken, flank steak, meatballs, tendon and tripe. Americans aren't used to eating tripe, and I've yet garnered the nerve to try it. What I usually order is the steak and flank steak, with extra noodles. On the side are served mint, coriander (cilantro), lime wedges and mung bean sprouts, which you can add to the soup if desired. Additionally, hot sauce and hoisin (plum) sauce are available as extra spices.
I've been to other Vietnamese restaurants in town, but Pho Duy stands out as the supreme location for excellent pho. Even waiters at other restaurants admit to the superiority of the pho at Pho Duy. Don't let the location or appearance of this restaurant deter you from enjoying a wonderful bowl of beef noodle goodness. Pho Duy currently has three locations in the Denver area.
