It's rare to find a Chinese restaurant with a kids' menu, but DragonFly actually has one. Wee ones can avoid the more sophisticated offerings and nibble on cheap child-friendly eats like chicken fingers for around $5. What does DragonFly have for adults? Shiny black tabletops, piped-in jazz, attractive presentation, natty wait staff dressed in black and a clean Oriental style that shines in an up-and-coming strip-mall location.
Located in the former site of the Giant Genie near the intersection of Park and Selwyn, DragonFly is Selwyn-area dining that's still plenty affordable, with entrees ranging from well below $10 to around $15. Reasonably priced eats include a mee krob-like stuffed lettuce, orange chicken, Szechuan shrimp and hot and sour soup. The crowd is a little Myers Park-y (think well-heeled older locals) but also includes an influx of younger urbanites from surrounding apartment complexes and communities. -- Jennifer Saylor

I Love Dragon Fly
JasonHarmon07 - 07/25/2008I use to live in Charlotte right across the street from Dragon Fly and I use to work part time at the Harris Teeter right beside it... needless to say I ate there a lot! I was there when it first opened I guess it's been 3 or 4 years. It's the best food I have ever had at a Asian rest. Always fresh, they would add additional vegetables if I wanted them.. it was amazing! I don't live in Charlotte anymore and miss Dragon Fly a lot!! The owners are very nice and always called me by name, I would eat there 3 or 4 times a week.. anyways just go and try it! and it's cheap!! :-D

Carlswife - 07/25/2008Due to my husband's medical needs, we are often in this area. We recently "discovered" Dragon Fly and now plan his appointments around a meal at Dragon Fly. Any menu item we have ordered has been delicious and there is only a reasonable wait for your meal. The price is right for such good quality food. Good thing we live 50 miles away or we'd be there much more often than we are!
